Can you have two computors running broadband off the same phone line or do i need to have some extra bits and bobs?

Yes, you can run several computers using the same phone line.
One way is to connect a device called a router, or if you get BT broadband the device is called the BT Home Hub and connect your computers to the router or hub.
The router or hub will be supplied by the broadband provider. Some want you to pay for it, some are free.

I'm with Tiscali and got my router for free,. I have wireless with a desktop PC and a laptop connected to my Tiscali broadband.
