Actually Swedie you have come to the right place to ask! 'Cos I have only recently asked our surgery about the jabs. I am having my flu jab today and my piggy flu one next Saturday (20th). They won't give them both together, but they don't have to be spaced apart because they both work in different ways. If I disappear after next Saturday you will know I have been given the wrong information. xx
He he he thanks Lottie! I'll just sit back and wait for a while then, and the answer will become clear!
Yoohoo Neti
Yes ,itching is a thyroid sign.I get this which is why I have been back to my doctor .My results were that my levels were skew whiff again and he's increased my medication .Only on a temporary basis though .I have to go back for more blood tests in three months . It could be a blip which can happen with dodgy thyroid glands .Mine is underactive . I get itchy skin ,thinning hair ,puffy face ,can't be arsed and lightheadedness . Craving for odd foods and sugary stuff . Also palpitations, throbbing feeling in the pit of in my throat and depression .Is this how you feel ?
The trouble with thyroid is that it can be a borderline thing .Mine is well over the borderline though :)
If they put you on too high a medication you can become hyper .If they won't medicate you ,you could try Kelp .It's a supplement and has the iodine you need .
I'm sorry you feel unwell. I know what it's like .
As for the itchy skin .Try not to have washing water too hot and use an emollient to wash with such as Aqueous cream.
I know it doesn't lather up like shower gel or soap but it does get you clean and if you use it afterwards as a moisturiser It will help the itching .Even better is Diprobase or Dermol if you can get it in Ibiza .I use Dermol which my GP prescribed for my leg and which I now have on repeat prescription.Take care old girl xx
Afternoon each. My Doc hasn't suggested I have the piggy flu jab so I don't know if I will get it or not, but I expect I will have it if it is offered. Things like that don't bother me.
Hi Vin you've completely lost me on the frozen shoulder comment. I love a massage though, I remember having the first one when I went to Tunisia one year and I went back for another one the next day, I enjoyed it that much and I've had lots since then Hope you feel better soon Vin as I do for all of you who are below par.
Anyway have a good weekend Biddyfriends and take care.See yer later 'gater(s)
.
Never mind pussycat massages Kit, I think Vinny got off far too lightly so I rang his hospital & they've arranged a follow up appointment with Helga, she'll warm up his frozen bits alright....

I'm beginning to think worrying about the flu is becoming a pandemic on it's own.

Well it's quite a time for dogs...my neighbour rang to say her niece got up this morning to find her dog acting wildly for no apparent reason & I told her it was exactly the way Charlie was after his fit. So they took her to the vet & he said she had possibly had a fit. Heaven's above, I think we need an extension on our Biddy home for the poorly furries.

Thanks woofy & shaney, sometimes you think you're going mad until you find out there's a lot like us out there and these dreary damp days don't do anything for your spaced out head....Apparently the spaciness is your body's way of closing down when it's overstressed...the trouble is your appointments etc don't disappear & allow you to recover. Hope you managed your appt with the doc Lotticia :o), I ducked out of going for blood tests again today because I couldn't drag myself out the door.
btw, rather than empty it out I did the 'wait & see' with the recent pong in the shed and lo & behold! the smell's gone... haha...I think I'll write a list of all the horrid stuff, throw it in there & see if it vanishes.

sorry neti, I can't help laughing at your orange calomine....It'll even out your orange tan, hahahaha
hi Jude...this site's acting up, you weren't there before & it took ages for my post to appear
I saw a lady in Morrisons yesterday who put on a pair of those gloves ,you know those disposable surgical glove things before she got her trolley out of the row.I fully expected her to put a mask on and wave a banner saying "keep clear ".
I've seen people wandering around town and on the bus rubbing that antibacterial handgel in as if their lives depended upon it .
Mr.S and I haven't been summoned for a flu or swine flu jab .Mr.S is nearly 64 .Mind you he wouldn't go to the doctors unless he was on his on his last legs. Should they have asked if he needed one ?
I didn't ask my doctor about it last time I went as I was more concerned about my sodding leg and thyroid and he didn't mention it .Though I suppose I could have asked, thinking about it in retrospect .
I did have a cold a while back but I don't think was a cold really .More of an allergy thing considering the Indian Summer It was just a streaming eyes and nose thing which cleared up within a few days .
.I used to get cold after cold in London and once had severe bronchitis but since being here at the edge of the world with extremely fresh air ,touch wood , I haven't had a cold since we've been here .
When we were in Germany getting on for this time last year I had the mother and father of a bloomin cold .))
I think I'll throw caution to the wind :)
Thanks shaney, yes I am underactive thyroid and they are still trying to level it out, go to Endocrine specialist on Tuesday. Also have very dry and thin skin, no depression and hair is as thick as ever. Certainly been craving and eating strange food. (croissants and curry sauce, peanut butter and banana to name but a few) I've been using Simple moisturiser and E45 but thought they may have been the cause of itchiness but I realise it's been happening since they upped my meds.
PS I am always using antibacterial foam on my hands when I'm out in public!!!!!
Neti I am now on 200 mcg Levothyroxine This is an increase of 25mcg .What level have they put you on ?
This thinning busines is a bugger .One of the reasons for the thin skin on my shins is down to this thyroid thing and I think constantly scratching at it caused the infection in my leg .Although I had been bitten so it's six of one and half a dozen of the other .
.It's all a long drawn out process until they get the levels right .Too much and you go hyper .Too little and you become what I can only describe as lethargic .
My Mum had an underactive thyroid and developed a goitre which grew and pressd on her windpipe .They operated and removed the whole caboodle . This was when she was in her seventies mind you and although she had to take medication for the rest of life she was a different woman afterwards .
Try a more bland thing to wash with such as the aqueous cream.
I'm not a fan of E45 or Simple .I have tried those and they did zilch .I have scratched myself silly with it .And it's always worse at night .This Dermol is the best thing ever .

I take euritox 50mg daily and on Fri-sun have to take 2 of them. But get so tire and can't be arsed sometimes to do much!
I only typed that rude word cos I thought it would get filtered, sorry!!!

I've got something to liven you up...come here & try this lamp for me. Bloody thing, frit me out of me wits it did. I bent down to switch it on at the socket & a bloomin great spark flew out of the plug. Now, did the bulb cause the plug to blow...or did the plug make the bulb go? And does this hair - do suit me?
http://1.bp.blogspot....tanding_up_on_end.jpg
Robi You just made me laugh out loud. You and your electrics!!!
Same thing happens to me Robi when I switch on the fire insert and one of the bulbs blows all the leccy bangs off, frits me summat awful, also the lights over the cooker when they blow the whole lot bangs off, so I now approach with broomstick which makes Mr N laugh cos won't make one iota of difference, if they are gonna blow a broomstick won't stop 'em. There's summat to be said for oil lamps and gas fridges!!!
Did your light flicker Jude? hahaha...
I'm glad I'm not the only one whose scared of electricity neti...and gas...and I never trust the 'experts', I'm terrified they haven't done the job properly. If I need jobs doing I always have them done early in the day so there's plenty of time to get them back again if there's a problem.
I'm not putting this lamp on again tonight...can't find the fuses anyway. I'll light the candle in my circle of friends & hope I don't set owt on fire.
some of my real ones look like this, hehe

fuses???? Don't you have a modern box type thingy and all you do is flick a switch so all the switches are up? Much easier and safer, althouh once I called a friend in just to put a switch up!
I did it. I went to the doctors, and I didn't panic!! I forgot how gorgeous my doctor is and I felt immediately better just sitting their gazing at him. He looks like Adrian Lukis

Oh Robbie, you made me laugh out loud with your electrics!!!
Swedie will have trouble with 'cline'!!! New Lottie word for 'Clinic'.

Good morning. Have you all battened everything down!!! It's really lovely here at the moment - sun is out and a gentle breeze - bit different from last night.
