downloader-UA.H virus

a friend of mine has had a virus on his computer for a week now which has given him endless pop ups, including porn. He discovered last night that this was on his computer, downloader-UA.H He's hoping that this is the one that is causing all the problems, he has good internet security on his computer but scans failed to pick this one up. http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id= description&virus_k=144503

Does anyone know how he can get rid of it. Which removal tool would be the best for the job. What should he do for the best. Any help would be much appreciated please, he can't use his computer because the pop ups are so bad. TIA x

As stated, that is a downloader so wont be the cause of the popups, it will have just installed the infection that is the cause, so more information is needed before anyone could advise you safely.

Tell him to install and run A2 Free - it is the third one in thils list:

And AdAware (also free)

After installing he needs to reboot in safe mode, turn system restore off, run the new programs (and any others he has whilst he is at it) and finally empty the virus vaults and recycle bin.

Now he should restart in normal mode and turn on system restore.

Download and install these two free programs:

Turn off system restore.

Reboot pc in safe mode

Run the two applications (and any other antispyware, antitrojan software you may have)

Empty the virus vaults and recycle bin

Restart in normal mode

Turn on system restore.
