I am currently on BT broadband and my flatmate has said he might be getting AOL broadband soon, he is currently on AOL dial up . We only have one phone line so would I be right in thinking we both wont be able to be connected at the same time. We was going to network my PC and his laptop together but never got round to it.

You can't have 2 broadband connectiuons on the same line. But a wired network could be achieved for less than the cost of two months broadband.
exactly why not just share the same connection via a hub ? this way you could even upgrade to a 1 meg line and go halvies on the cost
Yes, and he wouldn't be on AOL anymore, so everyone wins. You'd want a router (not a hub) too if you only wanted to share the connection without networking the pcs together.
Also I think you'll find that AOL broadband simply piggy-backs off the NTL broadband network. Presumably this would require a separate installation (which would mean another installation fee & monthly line rental)

Thanx, I'll think I'll go for the wireless router option. Seems simpler and no cables to worry about.
AOL does not allow internet sharing. Share the BT one instead
