N.H.S. Oticon Sprit3 hearing aids

I am now have two Oticon hearing aids which work fine except there's no volume control but, thay do work extraordinary well.
However in the booklet which came with them, there is a note that a Direct Audio Input (which allows simple connection to a walkman/iPod etc) can be used. this is crossed out in the booklet and I wondered if it is installed on the N.H.S. units and therfore could be used if the software is activated, or, the N.H.S. units not supplied with this option. Can't find answer from Audiology dept? Can anyone advise please as I do like to listen to my MP3 even though the sound is not balanced to my hearing. Many thanks in advance for any help I get. B.

Well, I don not know BUT:

1) If it is crossed oput in the booklet then NHS does not give you MP3 facility.
2) Have a look at your ear insert and see if the is a "hole" for you MP3 player.....if not then forget it. If there is then plug your MP3 player in and see what happens. You can control the volume from the player.
3) I am disgusted that the Audiology Dept can't help...that is what they are paid for.

Sqad617. Thanks for the prompt reply. There is nothing showing on the unit but as I understand from the booklet, an 'audio shoe' can be clipped/hooked onto the unit which would then allow the 'shoe' to connect direct to a lead from an Mp3. These shoess cost aroound �40 for a pair, so I wouldn't want to waste that amount of cash. if the aid software will not work with the shoe. B.
