I have the Free AVG installed on my PC
There is now available 8.5 version of the free download.
When I try and install this I get the warning "The Publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software"
Has this happened to anybody else? Is it safe to run? I am a bit of an Ignoramous about these thin gs.

Uninstall your current AVG and go to Filehippo site and download the new AVG version from there as it is safe.
If I download anything I always try and use this site.

Yes, I agree. I always use filehippo, saves all the messing of doing a download, then finding out it`s not actually free as they claim. filehippo is always the free version and in my experience always safe.
I always type into google- filehippo and the name of the download I require.
You`ll find avg 8.5 here.

As redman says, you need to uninstall version 8 first.

it is just for your information .
when you click on the i agree it will download the new verison.

your avg will be upgraded upto the 8.5 avg
