firewire,camcorder onto laptop

sorry i have posted this before but still cant quite make sense of it,i have asamsung vp-d381 mini dv camcorder,i want to put the tapes onto my laptop,hp compaq 6720s,what cables,cards etc will i need?
thanks for anyone who can help me!
even samsung helpline are a waste of time!

You need a firewire port for your laptop, like this:

You just plug that into the card socket on your laptop, take standard firewire to mini-firewire cable. Plug the big end into the adaptor and the little end into your camcorder.
Sorry, I see that your laptop doesn't have a PC Card option. You will need an Express Card firewire adaptor, like this:

hi,thanks for your quick response,so i buy this card,then i need the firewire cable and plug that in to my camcorder and the card?i have been asked if its 4,6 or 8 pin?does that mean the pin on the card?
Good luck with this. Ive been trying to get mini dv from a Sony DCRPC2 to a HP DV6000 laptop for ages. Ive got a firewire port built in but the laptop doesnt even see the camera :-(
