Shouldn't worry about the poor chap on the other end, shaney, he probably didn't speak English and works in India anyway!
Actually Neti ,he spoke really good English and was very helpful .I did feel sorry for him because I had steam coming out of my ears and told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of them .Poor guy had to keep referring to his line manager .I asked him to put his line manager on the blower but he hedged and ummed and arred :) He said they would post me a new modem .I ask you !
I said that I pay X amount of money and then have to the plug the damn thing in myself ? Yeah right .Not this lady .

My next port of call is Carphone Warehouse . Bought Mr S. a mobile phone ,they give a ten quid top up with it ,a week and still no credit . You ring Orange and all they do is waffle .
So I shall be going into the shop in town as soon as weather permits and they also won't know what's hit them :))
The problem we have here with out broadband/telephone supplier is that you can never speak to the same person twice, so have to explain again and again, and then when they say they will do something, they don't and you can't get back to them. But now if you ask for a printout of the conversation t be sent to you, they have to by law, so that may make things a tad easier!

arternoon all, having a snow day here, we have nothing to go out for so we ain't. the snow has just stopped, it started at 22.00 last night., that lovely dry powdery stuff. I went out in the garden with the dogs first thing to check on my hibernating tortoise (in a box in the heated shed) THEN I realised its not a great idea to go out in 8 inch deep snow in crocs with holes in...time to go ironing.....
down to freezing here... still half an inch of snow lying on the ground.... oooh, My Winter Hell!

You tell'em, Shaney. What total incompetence. I am crossing my fingers and waiting for a Kindle to be delivered (pressie for loved one) but when I think of the vanishing camera... well, I did get a new one sent but it took a month, and that's too late for Xmas if it happens again.

that's the stuff Shaney, keep your blood warm with cursing
Yaaaay...I have Email .
Engineer arrived ,all sorted.Nice chap who completely understood my annoyance .
But I had to put myself out and be pushy in the first place which I hate doing really as these people on the phone are only trying to earn a living .
I get really annoyed at how these big companies treat their staff and customers .
Phew what a busy day. I've got writer's cramp. Been backwards and forwards buying more cards and a special one I forgot. Then a load of phone calls. But it's done now thank goodness. Just the pots to wash from my dinner uggh! No dishwasher here only me!!
Off to get some tea.... Later 'gater(s)
evening all...some of the white stuff has shrunk & there are glimpses of ground, yay! The no yay news is that temps are predicted to go down as low as minus 9C (which will mean lower in reality no doubt)...eek!

Yay for shaney's mail... you need a lesson from Tarquin, he's brilliant with these computer/phone people. I was next to him when someone was obviously trying to pass him on to someone else & he kept saying "No, I don't have a pen...No, nothing I can take the number down on....No, I don't want to do that...I rang you, now I'd like someone to ring me please, as soon as....."...and they did, hahaha
Shaney I sent you a mail in reply to yours on Fri 26th Nov..I can send it again if you didn't receive it.

We had a snowesta this afternoon too woofy, my head was aching, I'd done all i needed to do, so it was snuggle up on the settee, quiet and warm & I'm very grateful for that.

I haven't bought any cards...I've done nuttin for xmas...except eat the boxes I'd bought :o)
*haha...d'oh...boxes of biscuits
Haha Robinia ..a friend of ours bought Mr S a tin of Cadburys Heros. He doesn't eat sweets and it's a complete mystery to to me as why the tin is now empty .The same thing happened to the tub of brandy butter I bought recently :)
Yes ..got your mail and yours Lofty ...thank you xx

I shall probably be on your lug later Robinia as I need one answer to my Spectator crossie which has a Corrie theme and I've hunted through a whole list of characters on Wiki and still can't get it !.
I've now bought all the Quality street and cabury's roses, and Mr Kipling xnas cake slices etc but the shop is keeping them until I collect them as have already eaten all the chewy lollies which I had put aside. All cards posteed and parcels posted, all pressies bought even one for Mr N but will get him another!

Evening saffron buns - I see they're not as big in the UK as they are over here in December http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffron_bun ? In November and December when you're waiting in line at the checkout at the grocery store they have small saffron "envelopes" on display on the cash register to remind you to ask for it there (too expensive to lie about on the shelves). My cat loved saffron and I do too (great in soup) so we used to share a saffron bun now and then. And if anyone drops by from CB to say how sad is that they ALSO won't know what hit them - lol Shaney!

...Neti I miss my cat too:'( But someone I know told me long ago not to dwell on my missing her as that would make it more difficult for her spirit to free itself from its earthly boundaries. That perspective changed something for me. /...and don't pine for the snow either cos it's dirty. Grey snow. You don't want it. / One of today's headlines: THE GERMAN FREEZE IS ON ITS WAY - lol!

Another inneresting day at the library, I've never been so approached by young men in all my life. Today's one wanted to chat and to sell me beers because he had too many. Very sad, he was only 21 and drunk at noon. I didn't handle it well cos I'm fed up with being approached by youths who think I'm an idiot, but this one I probably should have talked to. Not sure what I could have done, though - but still.

Winged crampons (tampons?!) is a great design idea Vinny. Or if you meant magic carpet sanitary pads that'll be fine too - and one magic sanity carpet too please, I really need that one. (Winged crampons would sell, really they would:)

Fun video Jude. Thanks for all your Kit's a lovely ladys, ladies, but I have to say Leif isn't bad either, he was very kind Jude. You must think well of the Sami people ever after, now:) And las
(cont.) ...think well of the Sami people ever after, now:) And last but not least JUDE da man;-)
Kit - Jude was the Saint of Lost Causes i think. That's me alright!!!
Not the Saint of course but the lost cause....:o)
lol Jude! Not in my book! / Damn, I've got a new password that's so intricate I can't crack it myself, even, takes two or three tries every time...!
ahem, I don't know if this concerns anyone here...
