Acer netbook

A month or so ago I purchased an Acer netbook running Windows 7, as it has no disc reader I purchased one of those that connects via a USB socket and yesterday also purchased some games on disc from a charity shop having first checked on the back of the case that they would work on win.7 (it said OK for XP & 7)
after loading them on to my netbook they were impossible to play as the picture was too big for the screen and the bottom of the picture where the controls are was missing, is there anything I can do to get it right and if so how? in easy to understand terms please as I am a computer novice.

Probably not. The games may be suitable for the Operating System "Windows 7", but they'll also have hardware requirements - in particular the video adaptor and monitor.
The whole point of a Netbook is that it features cut down hardware and is aimed primarily at accessing the Net.

Though you could try changing the graphics options for the game(s) and running them in a lower resolution.

Might work, might not, as rojash says, netbooks aren't meant for game playing.

Thanks lads, the whole point of getting a netbook is so that I can take it away on holiday with me and play some of my games whilst lazing around the pool or on the beach. If I'd have known that it wouldn't work I would never have bought it.

rojash or chuck might answer this, does a netbook have the option to run a game in a sort of compatability mode?

Nothing to do with the netbook, compatibility mode is part of windows 7 which might (in some cases) let you run software that would otherwise not work in windows 7.
