Hotels in Manchester
Can anyone recommend any hotels/b&b's in Mancester that are close to the main shops? I'm looking to go in November

We went to Manchester for an overnight stay so we had easy access to the Christmas markets, which were brilliant. Unfortunately, we didn't do our homework with regards to checking out what other travellers had recommended and we ended up in a hotel, which was in a fantastic location near to the shops but the hotel itself was diabolical. Therefore, I would never stay in a city centre hotel unless I had checked it out on this site or with other people.
Hope it helps!

What's your budget, there are quite a few hotels around. I live there so if you let me know what you want to spend, if you want breakfast etc... (plenty of places about it not). The Travelodge on Blackfriars St is popular as a cheap spot (avoid places like Sashas) though it is very popular for MEN Arena gigs etc... so lots of people in and out. Friends of mine have stayed there and found it fine. The Ramada Jarvis is also close to the shops though round a fairly busy area of town on a Friday/Saturday night.
Do you need parking? It's expensive in the city centre if none with the hotel (some charge for parking but at a reduced rate). Ramada and Travelodge have parking.

The Christmas lights switch on is always a really good night too, about a week before the markets open usually. Usually a few stars there, often an XFactor winner and Corrie people, local panto stars etc... and a great fireworks display overlooking the Town Hall.
