Disappointing Stay In A Travelodge In Bristol, Recently

I had to go to Bristol on Tuesday for 2 nights, and chose the travelodge anchor rd. We arrived pretty late, 12 midnight, and knackered, after long day. Woke up next day to discover there wasnt any shampoo, nor a remote control. Went to reception to complain, to be told, they never supply shampoo, oh and the remote control was probably nicked. Then was told, i could buy a washbag for a fiver!!
Anyway wont be using this place again, pity really, cuz quite liked Bristol

So it's the same in all Travelodge's not just Bristol, that's how they keep the price down.

I'd guess they must be going for the least cost option, in which case almost everything one can decide not to supply, isn't. If cost isn't your priority then it may not be for you. The idea being that if you don't want something you ought not be charged for it being supplied. Did you have to bring your own towels ?

Premier Inns don't supply shampoo or shower gel either. People who are vain about their hair, like me, wouldn't dream of using hotel shampoo anyway.

if Travelodge really want to keep their prices down they could drop the "free cockroach" scheme that seemed to be going last time I stayed in one.

sorry folks for being so picky, as it wasn't me that booked the travelodge, i didnt realise how cheap it was. its just that i tend to travel a lot, and now with airport security, i cant pack shampoo, so havent bothered packing for years. luckily until now, i have always found the shampoo in all the hotels i've stayed in to be of sufficient quality.its just a routine, you arrive at the hotel, unpack your things and have a lovely shower, so yes shampoo is a biggy for me, sorry. Well i have learnt one thing, i will always pack a small bottle of shampoo in future. now wheres that universal remote control?

I took my sweetheart to a swanky hotel as a birthday treat.
When I asked her what she thought of it, she said "One hotel bedroom ceiling looks much the same as another to me."
That was nice, wasn't it?

f.g.tomatoes, I have travelled a hell of lot, but must've been very lucky with hotels. I usually book well in advance and usually get good deals. Last year i stayed in A 5 Star hotel with buffet breakkie for 22 euros a night. yes it included shampoo, lol

Interesting comments.......

I have used Travelodge a lot, over many years, the most recent was at Ilminster last week. The price was £49 for one night.

I don't like them now since the furnishings were changed.....the bathroom is pokey and there is hardly any shelf space or bedside table.....only a pokey little slot to put your specs on or alarm clock. And the kettle was broken.


To be fair....the bed was clean and comfy, and heater efficient.


They seemed to be much better when Trust House Forte was the owner. I think they sold out to a German company?

Where do you come across these £19 prices? I have seen the adverts but have never managed to find these prices when I want to stay. Perhaps they are on special offer at certain times.

Nowadays Premier Inn are much better....and the same price as I have never managed to find that £19 bargain. Very good beds and ample space for clothes.

Has anyone used the Ibis chain? I have heard good reports....don' t know how the prices compare.
