How expensive is cyprus?

I'm going for a 1 week vacation to protarus and have paid for the flights and accommodation. I wondered how much spending money a young couple would require for 1 week? Although we are in a serviced apartment, I assume that we will be mostly dining out and drinking a cocktail or 20 :-)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Im from Cyprus, and go there every year, so i know. Because you are staying at a tourist resort, it will be obviously more expensive than local areas. Protaras nightlife is low key but busy and there are many many resturants you can choose from. Remember, when you change English money into Cypriot money you get less, but it does reflect the fact that Cyprus is cheaper than England, however sometimes it is not! Expect to pay at least �20 for the both of you for a dinner, and around �2.00 each for a lunch time sandwich. Most bars have good deals on cocktails, which are around �2-�2.50 each.

Bring about �400 each spending money because when you change �300 to Cypriot money you'll get around �250-�275 depending on rate, and out of that you want to buy your food, your drinks, travel and taxi if needed, souveniers (and there are lots of wonderful souveniers you'd want to buy) etc.

Make sure you DO NOT go on excursions via your tour operator, the are over expensive and take the mickey. ON the high street which is where all the night life is there are several travel agents which offer excursions around the island for �16. They pick you up and drop you off by air conditioned coach outside your apt and you can go on mountain trips through different cities, or visit different coastal towns, castles. beaches villages etc, and food is �5 for tradditional cypriot buffet. Tours are run by Eman tours and are guided by a tour guide who look after you nad give you ahistory of the island in the coach.

So, for the both of you take around �300-�400 each. Scooters can be rented for �40 for the week
