Hi mrsann

Have you looked at http://www.motorhomefacts.com

You have to sign up to view the guides but it is well worth it.
According to the latest news reports you should both sleep with gas masks on too, there's some naughty people raiding camp sites at the moment. This has been going on for years but it's only just becoming well known so please keep your wits about you.
In France there are lots of local authority owned and run campsites which are modest but quite good and generally provide very good value. The local info office will tell you, alternatively a camping guide book will list them, even a second hand one bought at a car boot sale.
