I have muddled up where I saw it but a closeup on some wreckage showed what seemed to be a gas cylinder: still intact, painted all black (albeit one end was concealed by other items on top of it).
I've looked up gas cylinder colour codes and all black is/was the body colour code for oxygen.
I was under the impression that aircraft emergency oxygen is chemically generated, not stored in pressurised containers.
I'm trying not to leap to conclusions here; merely recording something I'd seen which didn't strike me as being a part of the aircraft.

Depends on the aircraft. Short haul aircraft tend to have chemically generated oxygen but long haul oxygen comes off a ring main. Chemically generated oxygen only lasts about 20 minutes. However, there are large black oxygen bottles in nose wheel bay for flight crew oxygen (I have actually been down in an A320 bay and seem it). Also, there are several bottles of crew oxygen on all aircraft (one for each crew member plus a few extra) for use in a decompression. That`s probably what you saw.

There were few items in shot to give a sense of scale but it looked like it was not much bigger than a large thermos flask; 1.5 to 2 litres, except with a domed bottom end.
Coincidentally, they just showed the clip on the breakfast news (@06:12) and the structure on the top end was reminiscent of the trigger shaped part of a fire extinguisher.
