cats attacking bin bags

how do i stop cats ripping the bin bags trying to get to waste food inside them. i have asked the owner to feed the cats on collection day or keep them in. i have even tried freezing the waste food until collection day but when i get back from work there is always food on the floor usually bones.is there anything i can spray onto the bags to keep the horrors away.

I heard that orange peel keeps cats away.....could be an old wives tale though

Some really cheap & nasty body spray/aftershave or air freshener sprayed all over the outside of the bag should do it.

Are you sure its cats? Seagulls go inland a lot of the time. Badgers and foxes are sly intergratos into your gardens If its cats then try spraying oil of lemons, cats hate it, as do mosquitoes, ther ae so many plants available now at you garden centres. Go visit and ask advice from them.

Just to follow on a bit from softspot, i've even seen Starlings ripping open dustbin bags.

i used to sprinkle pepper on them! once they sniff it they start sneezing. cruel but it worked. got myself a wheelie bin now though!

Have you been in to "jollys" i think thats what it's called (it's a pet shop) they sell a spray that cats stay away from dont know what its called though!!

thanks everyone for your answers. if it was legal i would consider leandrews advise but i will leave the little ginger pest to live.
