I have "reconstruction" for 4 Down which is: No, it returns after engineers praise a suggestion(14) but this doesn't fit with 21 Across which I think is "endomorph": Hoped mom would somehow reveal a rounded person!(9)

Help would be welcome!

Is there some clue gimmick or other explaining the missing "r" in the clue for Endomorph?

Quite right, I misread it as mom, I definitely need new reading glasses!!(I have dry eye, which doesn't help)
