Just read that Ronnie turned down the chance of 147 break at the Welsh Open
for £10,000 said it was too cheap, he's not worth watching!

Maybe! maybe! although I don't see it that way, as the people that you have mentioned have arrived "at the top" by "dancing" to the tune of whoever is "calling the tune.

We must agree to differ I think.

My perception is that it is precisely the rebel element of these examples that makes them rise above the rest - and majority - of 'tune dancers'.

Let's hope that is true in Mr Jagger's case - his current income and reputation rest squarely on his band's ability to turn out a compelling live show - the Stones haven't released a decent album for over forty years!

Well, Ding Junhui's just made a maximum so I guess the crowd got their entertainment after all -- and Ding got more money than he would have.

Not sure about that ... I think it only rolls forward to the next tournament, so Ding's only in for £10,000 (plus £2,000 highest break) and next tournament it will be reset back to £5,000.

Have these tables got oversize pockets or something?

Not oversized pockets -- 147 breaks are just not so rare these days. Still a thing of beauty and supreme control, but more people have the ability.

Indeed -- if ever a sporting record was going to stand for all time, then it's very probably that one.

I've just watched the clip again, and it is clear from the first red to the last black that it simply didn't occur to Ronnie that he could miss any of the shots in the break.

The sheer speed with which he planned and took those shots are a Master Class in break-building.

Yes, it is brilliant. I love Dennis Taylor's "I don't believe this" when he gets down to the pink before the white's come to a stop. Ronnie's hit some superb shots and breaks over the years... my favourite is probably his 92 break in 2012. And then pretty much every shot he played in the 2013 World Championship.

This week, though, one scrappy frame against Yu aside, has been on superb form this week, and has just been mesmerising to watch. Hopefully, people will pay far more attention to that than to anything else he does.
