If anything, Lefties do err on the side of "all for one and one for all", in favour of particular countries. Loyal to their fellow human beings before arbitrary patches of land (and associated culture), marked out by borders (or a coastline, in our case).
I hate to use phrases like "New World Order" because of the nutter overtones attached to it but I think they are more inclined to this idea of dropping borders and "unifying the planet" than the "everyone/country for themselves and devil take the hindmost" attitude of the right. Global unity is a pipedream, of course but one has to have an end goal or else you never get there.
If I read AB rightly, there is a belief among some contributors that the EU is some sinister socialist unification project along just such lines, so apologies for borrowing the idea and repeating it to someone who could be very familiar with it.
Notice the contradiction though? The left supposedly despises Imperialism but would, surely, like the whole world to be run in what they have decided is the 'good' way.
