Protestants will like the name of the wife of the guy who founded the C of E, whereas Catholics might enjoy the fact that he bumped her off. Further, somebody at least will appreciate the type of pun that far too many poor Irish Comedians seem to rely upon!

I wouldn't have believed that, EM1, unless I'd just looked up 'Boal' as a surname in the Oxford Names Companion. It does indeed exist, as a Northern Ireland variation on 'Bowler' which, in turn, either means a maker of bowls or (perhaps appropriately here) a heavy drinker.
