I have no sentimentality as regards what other nations eat as long as it is farmed and reared for the purpose of food. However stealing pets or watchdogs and turning into a spectacle is what irks me.

But I would rather sign a petition than sit back and do nothing. And we have no idea of knowing whether it will help or not. Small steps and all that.
Anyway lb I hope you get more signatures, maybe people will be on tomorrow who aren't on today. Have to go now. Good luck x

As per the link in my 17.37 post yesterday baldric, there are those in China who are trying to effect change so just may be this petition will give them heart to keep on trying knowing they have support from the other side of the world.
Nobody is expecting miracles but if you don't even try then you'll never ever get. For me, it is better than doing nothing even if it turns out to be in vain.

jambutty thank you again. We can but try. x

Just had an update from change.org re this petition which some of you kindly signed. Apparently ELEVEN MILLION signatures were collected (not all through Change) and presented to the Yulin Representative Office in Beijing. In the past, officials have not even accepted or acknowledged formal denunciations. So well done everyone.

So far, so good and fingers now firmly crossed.
I signed this. I do think attitudes are changing in China. In the 20 years since I have been going there, I have noticed this. In Bejing and Shanghai you see so many people with little dogs as pets now. I haven`t seen any larger dogs but I presume that is because the locals are apartment dwellers. It`s definitely 'de rigueur' to have a little ornamental dog with you when you are out and about. China`s a huge country though so it will take time. Every little helps, as they say

Yes 237, what you say chimes with the link in my last post page 1 of this thread.
Glad you've seen this follow up.
