Holidays In Egypt

I have just heard that a nephew of mine has gone to Egypt for two weeks hols, but without telling anyone, including my brother. We have no idea where he is but it is unlikely that he is sightseeing at the Pyramids !

I thought the Red Sea resorts were out of bounds at present, so where else could he be ?

Eccles...wouldn't going to Sharm, via Cairo, be just another way of ignoring the advice of the FO ?

If you did go to Sharm, would your holiday insurance cover you ?

Leaving the low cost side out of the debate, I still don't understand why there are still people around that would prefer to go to dodgy areas instead of going to another area of the world where they are not at risk ?

Well as there aren't any direct flights to Sharm (that I'm aware of) going via Cairo is the most direct route. At least I can get to Hurghada directly.

I have a long established history of travelling to war zones and areas of conflict, with and without insurance. Insurance is not a problem when travelling to areas that are identified as not recommended by the FO.

Where would you suggest is a totally risk free destination? I can't say I can think of one......

Eccles...I went to Sorrento twice in the last few years, although it is doubtful that I will go abroad again.

I'm not sure about risk, but I nearly died of eating the best Pizza and Ice Cream in the world.

'Friendly' countries reliant on tourism might want to think about getting their, er, stuff together and weed out the loonies hell-bent on death and destruction.
General population as well as government.
