I am a huge fan of Sheridan Smith and make a point of watching anything she is in but I have decided not to watch Moorside because of the subject matter.
It won't help Shannon Matthews or her siblings and could cause distress to be back in the headlines for the sake of drama,
What's your thoughts?

That's fair comment, but when the story is primarily about a child more consideration should be given.

i have to admit that the thought of a drama about holly and jessica, or jamie bulger seems very distasteful, but this does not particularly. I dont know why though

I agree hc, more consideration for innocent victims wouldn't come amiss. But the following is how it was presented last March in a national daily newspaper.

Speaking about her latest role, Sheridan enthused: “The story is a fascinating mixture of what I thought I knew and a whole lot more that I had no idea about. The themes of faith and trust in human nature, and the way the whole community came together really inspired me.”

Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, also commented on the new series and said: "Drama has the ability to tackle sensitive subjects from different perspectives and consider the impact of a crime rather than the crime itself. This was an extraordinary story of our time that rocked a community and thrust it under the media spotlight. I read that, Canary, and I still think it is too soon. If it hadn't happened, it would be a far fetched drama.

It happened over 8 years ago, hc. Also, it's based on the community that tried to help find her.

i wonder, do the makers of true life dramas need a victims permission to makes films about them?

Good question, bundleone. I have no idea. I do know that Michael Jackson's daughter recently objected to a planned comedy and it was cancelled but I don't think Shannon has the same resources as Paris.

Maybe Shannon will revel in the renewed interest in this case. I really don't know
