After all didn't Khan, once shake the hand of convicted terrorist Babar Ahmad?

/// One figure whose hand he stopped to shake stood out: convicted terrorist Babar Ahmad, a man who has been blamed for inspiring a generation of extremists, including the gang behind the London bombings of July 7, 2005. The pair exchanged brief pleasantries before Khan moved on. ///

Also:

/// New revelations this weekend — about how Khan shared a platform with Yasser al-Siri, a convicted terrorist and associate of hate preacher Abu Qatada, and Sajeel Shahid, a militant who helped to train the ringleader of the London bombings — are the most serious so far. ///

Britain are missing a massive opportunity in not welcoming Donald Trump to the UK. Look at the success of the Trump visit to France- Macron has the nous to look beyond the fact that he Trump is personally distasteful and treated him to the full works, lunch in the Eiffel Tower, military parades etc including the regalia and pomp of Bastile Day. "If you do not agree with me on my view of Trump, I suggest you look at a USA version of AB called Quora and see some of the comments about him from his homeland."

Our view of Mr Trump (or indeed that of US citizens) is not the issue here. He was elected by due process and near enough 50% of Americans who voted chose him. The USA is not some remote dictatorship like North Korea where its people are oppressed and controlled by a dictator. It is a democratic nation, one of the UK's most important allies and trading partners and not a country we should have any desire or need to fall out with. Just as the Queen travels on State visits as the Monarch (and not as Elizabeth Windsor)so the President travels as Head of State of the US (not as Donald Trump). That position should be respected for what it is and not denigrated because the current incumbent is not particularly popular among some. People are entitled to disagree with, be unhappy with or just not comfortable with democratic decisions. They are not entitled to insist that courtesies that would normally be afforded to any President of the USA should somehow be parked because they don't like the present holder of that office.
