Do You Agree With The Cafe Owner Or The Boycotters?
Would you support child-free establishments?

So just to liven it up ... if a disabled adult with the mental age of 4 year old went in to this café, accompanied by his parents, should he be thrown out straight away based on his obviously low mental age? And, if not, should he be thrown out if he went on to behave like a 4 year old?

I am fully in support of the cafe owner.
The minority of people who do not parent correctly spoil things for the majority who do, and are the first to complain when challenged.
I have stopped using a lovely local cafe as it is obstructed by buggies and the mothers are almost as loud as the roving children.

Yes I would definitely support child-free establishments. If I had my child with me I would look for child-friendly, but if I didn't have my child with me, I would be happy to find a calmer, more serene environment in which to enjoy my pot of tea.
These days parents allow their kids to run amok anywhere and if you dare look disapprovingly, you get the usual, "he's only a child!!!"
I think it's important to have different establishments catering for different requirements.

Then again, maybe restricting only the under-12s isn't a guarantee of discipline and safety...

He is entitled to ban children, but I would be inclined to join the boycott, as I go to cafes a lot where there are children and maybe I am very lucky but I don't think I can recall ever seeing a huge amount of disruption.
If the people boycotting are the ones with the children I don't expect he minds.

been to a local pub recently, trying to relax as one does, all i could see was ferral children running about with mothers going ahh didums....mmm, some pregnant as well, their little darlings running amok, swilling down cider..mothers that is, fevin and blindin, id rather they sterilised at birth and the errant fathers..s who knows, i dont they they know..or care...i left
Wholeheartedly agree with the cafe owner.
It irritates the crap out of me that some people smile indulgently as their little darlings cause unnecessary noise. They might be your little darlings but they aren't mine.
I would never dream of allowing my kids to disturb other people.
But I save a very special loathing for kids in pubs. Pubs are just about the last bastion of adultdom (don't think that's a real word - but you get my point), so I cannot stand, really really cannot stand, seeing kids in pubs.

I seem to be the only one who thinks this is a bit harsh. I`m not sure whether he is banning kids because he wants peace and quiet or because he thinks they will trash his artefacts. Plenty of kids visit museums without trashing the place so I don`t see why they can`t do that when they visit his cafe.
