According to Conservative Home, Jacob Rees Mogg has emerged as the favourite among Tory grassroots as the next leader.

Obviously, grassroots support is not as important in the Conservative party as it is in Labour. But does this make him a serious contender or do you still consider him a joke?

In the un/likely event of a Rees Mogg leadership entering a face off with Corbyn, who do you think would win?

Despite some folks' claim to the contrary I believe that Brexit had a huge effect on the last election. How else would May have remained in power after her appalling campaign, and especially considering how long we've endured the right in government (especially if you include the Blair years). There may well be such a thing as not wanting to "derail Brexit" but also not agreeing with the government's approach to it, but I'm not so naive to believe remainer politicians when they claim that's all they're up to. It's a gift of cover for removing anything we exited for and remaining in the EU in all but "name". Or even, ideally for them, preventing it altogether. Labour can't be trusted with power at present so unfortunately the right has time to create an even more unequal society.
I've said it before but, what did you (leave voters) expect when we have a pro EU government in power?
I expect them to respect the referendum result; and since different politicians had different views the idea that we have a pro EU government isn't justified. We have a mixed view government, although accepted that the ratio of politicians who are pro will be slightly larger than for the general public. Ultimately they still have to go to the polls in future, so they've an incentive to get it right rather than mess things up and/or treat democracy with disdain.
138 to 185 ? Hardly an issue. All should want to be seen representing the public they serve, or they should get out of politics.
I'm afraid that's the system we're stuck with OG.
The plain fact is that just now the tories may be in power but ideologically and organisationally they are a mess.
While I don't want Corbyn as PM a certain part of me would be laughing ...
Careful what you wish for :-)
Why are the radicalised right tories on here so keen to change their leader, leave Maggie May to lead them into the next election.
It will be good for Labour,
ichkeria, //Careful what you wish for :-) //

Indeed.
Do any of the Tory supporters know where I can buy these books from ,
" The Lost Majority" By Theresa May or,
The" The come back kid " by J Corbyn, have tried Amazon , and good book shops.
