Hurrah! Saw the first swifts of the year yesterday 3rd May, swooping over my village. What a cheering sight:
"They've made it again,
Which means the globe's still working "
Sadly I wouldn't know where to find a swift, and wouldn't recognise one if it came up to me carrying a banner saying,"I am a swift".
Will have to remain satisfied with the little fat blackbird, (a bird - it is black), that lives in the bushes in our overgrown garden.
Waiting for the swallows to come back, they nest in our garage every year. Bit of dive bombing, a bit of ranting at us for going into their garage happens every year.
Thanks for that.
Must look in the graveyard next door tomorrow, and if I spot one, I will impress Mrs T when I return home and say, "Guess what I just saw?"
Cheers.
Yeay! I saw a fleeting glimpse of what appeared to be a house martin, flying high above my garden.
It was silhouetted but didn't seem to have the long forked tail of the swallow and was too small for a swift.
