Condolences? I Don't Think So!
A body fell from the wheel well of an aircraft and landed in a garden in Clapham, London, yesterday afternoon. It missed the occupant, who was sunbathing, by a metre. A spokesman for the airline (Kenya Airways) said "It is unfortunate that a person has lost his life by stowing aboard one of our aircraft and we express our condolences.".
Here's my alternative:
"We're absolutely appalled that the inadequate level of security at Nairobi airport allowed this to happen. The stowaway could have caused damage to the aircraft which could have brought it down, endangering the lives of those aboard as well as people on the ground. We're thankful that nobody was injured either on our aircraft or on the ground and hope this serves as a lesson to anybody foolish and inconsiderate enough to try such a stunt in the future."

I think it's nice that grieving relatives who had nothing to do with the death of their loved one get sympathy from the airline.
It hurts no-one, and may make them feel a bit better - surely those on here vying for the moral high ground can allow a little compassion when they've stopped judging?

Surely it's the airline vying for the moral high ground by putting out such a statement of condolences without adding a second as NJ suggested (and I'm sure the airline aren't sorry for the victim at all in reality). This was a massive security breach and just because posters say so doesn't make them heartless *** who deserve a good ticking off from the other camp. The two views can sit side by side. It was also said on the other thread that stowaways 'tend' not to carry bombs. Well passengers tend not to carry bombs either but have to go through rigorous checks just in case. I do wonder what the tone of these two threads would have been had the body fallen on a pushchair for example.
Bang on NJ, couldn't agree more.

Hmmm, so once settled here you dont think any would have followed as it would then be his "human right" to a family life? As we have seen before.
And yes, an early contender for the Darwin 2019.

Firstly, I have never and will never consider myself nicer or better than anyone else - that is purely a construct formulated in V_E's mind for some reason.
Secondly my remark to AOG's comment was one of genuine sadness that he fears he cannot post without accusations flying.
Third and final point - if anyone is going to vomit, please go outside.
