We have seen them getting away with blocking the streets and generally causing trouble but what do they want? There have been no specific demands and no ideas about what they want the government to do that is over and above what the government is doing already, which is a lot more than many other countries. It seems to me that they have been hijacked by anarchists and anti-capitalists who see that these environmentalists can be used to further their own extreme views.

They want to get a grip.
It amazes me when they say their country - they havent dont a thing to earn it yet, when they have worked 40+ years maybe they wil have a claim.
yes YMB Priti ius ideal to deal with these tish gabs. What do they want? nothing the last thing they care about is "climate change" yada yada, if they did they'd not be targetting one of the best nations in this area, they'd be in China or the US. No they are either unemployed or rich enough that they have time to spend on the disrupting the lives of the rest of us just going about our business. Set the rot squad on them.
Love em or hate em, they’re actually very clear what they want
what's that then ich?
Be honest now, how many, when they saw them blocking The Mall in front of Johnson's convoy, said Go on, run them over! Loved the gentle way in which they were pushed aside, I was reminded of the dratted Domino Rally that the children pestered for and never used.
... on the plus side they’re highlighting a problem of global concern
On the minus they’re are *** a lot of people off and actually doing a good cause harm.
A good scrub.
They are unique protesters in that they don't want change! They want things to stay as they are. Good innit? But the climate will change. It's natural. It always has and it always will - warm up; cool down.
Yes, the key is "anti-capitalist".

It is the science, technology (as well as the freebies) of the capitalist West which has released so many millions from poverty.

When capitalism is destroyed the planet may be saved, but grinding poverty, disease and high infant mortality rates will return.

"A consummation devoutly to be wished". But all in the same boat together. So not that bad.

"O Egalité! que de crimes on commettra en ton nom!"
Extinction Rebellion's aims seem to have been generated from a management newspeak buzzword lexicon.

//ecological justice // so what's that then? and why is it that only a citizen's assembly (whatever that is, and who decides who gets to be on it?) can be entrusted to deliver it?
The dark ages.

I blame Citizen 'Wolfie' Smith.
If you missed any of the protests, you can always see Extinction Rebellion's banners and signs at the V&A!
If it wasn't this hobby horse, it would be another.

These type of people just enjoy having something to protest about - 30 years ago it would have been the Community Charge.

Frankly, they're pathetic.
Only some dumb people don't believe it. Yes, there can be bad people who are raising funds and pocketing it. But this is a great issue and everyone should know it great detail.
