Sorry, hia x had to nip out to work....I meant that things we used to find funny, can be seen entirely differently by following generations. I love ofah myself, but my children 16-23 just think it is bit outdated.
What "new" viewers enjoy and what others enjoy remembering will be very varied. I'm sure we can cater for everyone, with the amount of choice we have now.

I think the point is with that, is that nobody should then be able to complain and get them banned.
Not everything is completely to my taste, but I wouldn't ban it.
But we also have to bear in mind that there will always be younger generations growing up, with different viewpoints.

We are going to have to agree to disagree pixie, I don't think it's 'dated' at all. It makes me laugh out loud and the relationship between Del Boy and Rodney is lovely as there's a lot of love there, in fact Del Boy is very loving - what's 'dated' about that ?? Bring it on I say ..

That all is... just a few comments I have seen already, just watching the first few episodes have made me cringe slightly, rather than laugh. This is the difference between being 8 and being 45.... and the views of my children, who haven't previously seen it.

First off, Lesbian kissing, Gay men kissing or being led ‘upstairs’ doesn’t offend me, but it might others at 7pm in the evening, in both Corrie and Emmerdale, will a ‘warning’ be put up there too?

Bobbi, i honestly think that those kind of scenes nowadays, would not offend anyone of any age. It's more slightly racist comments that we seem to be long past now.

Not intentionally, woof, and not at the time- but rewatching it now, I doubt it would be scripted the same way today.
Great for people to re-enjoy, but I'm not surprised everyone can't relate to it now. Much as I love it myself.

The clip shown this morning was of Del Boy coming into the Nags Head and seeing his pal who was a Sikh ,
Del said

No I wouldn't, they should be shown as they are.

If people start to watch them and get offended, they can just switch off or turn over.

They can... but as we have seen from the Eamonn Holmes fiasco, it only takes one person misunderstanding, to get something permanently banned.
To protect older programmes and films, a brief warning at the start, should prevent that?

Late as usual - Mondays are out I'm afraid - but I was overdue with my 1st child when the Fawlty Towers episode with the duck dinner and Basil thrashing his car was aired. I was helpless with laughter and holding my tummy - she arrived not many days later.
'Allo 'Allo' - I've bought CDs of the series and know at least 1 Frenchman who also thought them hilarious (he spoke excellent English), most who were aware also thought them funny - and I lived in an area bordering the Vichy regime, with pock-marks on building walls from German firing squads. Lighten-up everyone! For what are we born but to make fun of our friends and neighbours and for them to make fun of us in turn.

I agree, jourdain... but then, I am over 40. And not everyone who now watches TV, Netflix, etc will be. They will (and should) have different mindsets to what we did 35 years ago.
