School Tried Bodycams For Teachers
I do not think this is how teachers should be distancing themselves from pupils.

TD, it seems we were at school in the same good old days - no pupils took knives to school, no pupils sat and texted their way all through lessons, no pupils openly defied the teacher...

I know you have never given your age but quite clearly remember you having a backandforth with Kval about probably being younger than her. Secondary schools have not changed much in the last 5 years, if anything discipline may have improved but no doubt it still has no comparison with the respect held for teachers years back.
I'm 70 and when I was at school the very worst thing that happened was a fist-fight between 2 boys in the playground. When I was at Junior School nasty little boys would swing on my plaits.
That all changed. My last school (in the 90s) the pupils from another school were known to have threatened to raid on the last day of the school year. We tried everything to avoid this (including sending older pupils home the day before the last day of term with instructions not to come in next day; sending them home at lunchtime on the last day with a letter to parents (complicated and expensive because of ordering extra school buses) and eventually notifying the local police - who sent mounted personnel. At the same time we patrolled and I spotted a couple of lads hiding something under a bush in the grounds - turned out to be screwdrivers.
I think I can say that behaviour had worsened! In the school I currently help in there is CCTV in the toilets (lot of vandalism) and over the entrances. This seems to work OK. I would not want to wear a bodycam - sometimes a kid needs to offload and burst into tears, a camera would inhibit essential interpersonal trust.
