Gearbox/Clutch problem?

Hi everyone. I have an R reg rover 200 (diesel), I've had it for nearly 4 months and i've just noticed something.

When i put it into reverse it sort of 'clunks' into reverse: like when you don't have the clutch properly depressed and you grind the gears, even when the clutch pedal is fully down. As usual for things like this, i'm not sure if it was doing this when i first got the car, but i have a feeling that it wasn't. If this has come on recently can anyone tell me what it might mean for the car, could the clutch be wearing out, or the gearbox be dodgy? and depending on what you think it might be can you tell me if its an expensive job??

Cheers!

May be a characteristic of the car. Try pushing the pedal down, waiting 5 secs then selecting reverse. If it is better then nothing you will do will improve it. If it is still the same then it could mean any number of things. Let me know

Yeah it still does it when i try that. One thing i have noticed is that when i first get in the car: when the engine is cold then there isn't a problem. Its just when i use reverse after driving for a while, when the car has heated up.
could have the wrong oil in the gearbox
