But, imo, he's made a massive error. He's been very aggressive towards Trump.
That's his sympathy vote gone and no- one could blame Trump for 'taking the gloves off'.

I am not sure what you were expecting but like I say, Trump poisoned the thing from the start by talking over Biden and proceeding to make outrageous statements which drew predictable responses from his opponent.
He dragged the whole thing down: whether that was a tactic or just the way he is I don’t know. It’s hard to see how it helps him claw back in the polls.

Caught up with this last night and agree with all those who say it was like watching two kids in a playground. I feel very sorry for the American people having to make a choice between these two. Neither of them showed any class whatsoever and the poor referee - sorry, moderator - was way out of his depth. He couldn't have been less effective had he yelled, "If you don't stick to the rules, i'll scweam and scweam and scweam until i'm sick."

It's their fault, and they need to do something about it before it spirals even lower ... not just feel sorry for themselves. Likewise here, we're also spiralling downwards - Boris vs Corbyn being the latest sorry incarnation - but we're not as low as the Americans yet.

I think I know what Ich meant, that against a less famously confrontational opponent, Biden wouldn't have felt the need to act the same way, but you're right, both candidates were pathetic and undeserving of office.

Maybe I’m biased but I watched the whole thing and I saw one person trying to debate and one person ... not.
But sadly as I said before, it’s virtually impossible to stand up there in a situation like that and not be tarred with the same brush
