Hi there I am going to Manchester in November for a gig and have decided to stay for two nights whilst there. Can anyone suggest a nice romantic hotel within the city centre? I have googled but keep getting the Lowry and although looks nice is a little too modern for my liking. Thanks guys for any advice given.

Hi Greedyfly

I think I have a handle on what your looking for, I've stayed here a number of times and can highly recommend it:

The Great John Street Hotel

Hi,

You could try the Renaissance on Deansgate...a friend works there and though I've never stayed is apperently very nice. Slap bang in the centre too and if the gig is at the MEN your about 2 min walk away.

Enjoy!

Although THAT review is a something to think about lol
Ah, but he only stayed there once, shortly after it opened. I've been back and the 'teething problems' mentioned were not my experience. Although a better (more balanced) view is generally to be had on the 'tripadvisor' forums.

Some hate it, most seem to love it.

Here are some suggestions.

The Midland
This is a big hotel in the middle of Manchester, walking distance to everywhere.

The V&A
Is about 5 minute walk into the centre of town, but has more character, as it is in a converted warehouse

Malmaison
Never stayed here, but people that have like the place

Didsbury House
This is a couple of miles away from the city centre, and comes higly recommended

Just re-read that someone recommended the Brittania. I had to rescue a colleage out of the hotel as it was basically used for prostitution!! This was a few years ago and may well have changed!!
What about the Premier Travelodge (I think thats what it is called. Its purple.)? Its on Portland Street, so not too far from the City Centre.
