I didn't see the Police doing any social distancing during that. Quite the opposite actually. It makes a mockery of it all. No wonder people don't observe the rules. No, I didn't watch it all. I watched clips of it. Unsaintly comments at the start of the thread from Saint Peter! :o)
i can't see what they can do, the police that is, Piers could be nicked again and end up with another fine, but isn't going to stop his followers from coming onto the streets of London or Manchester like last time - nor people going shopping in town centres, once the NY is over it basically not remotely policeable -

I hope that plod was not trying to give him covid ... don't you? If they did would he get a hospital bed? Will he be one of the first to have the vaccine? Got to hope not.
Why on earth were there fireworks and why didn't they turn off the lights on the London Eye and other illuminations? Surely this was just encouraging people to go out.
i don't think corbyn paid the last fine, 10k - besides which what about all those who turned up to listen, did they get fined, i suspect not.
as to fireworks some set them off round here, no idea about down the Thames, if some went out to celebrate the NY then more fool them.
not obsessed i already said that he has many followers, but he is the most high profile one leading the demonstrators across London and other cities. He has been fined - how many more haven't been - the police have enough to do, with keeping general law and order, without these large scale demos.
