Pickle on cheese or bread? I put cheese on one slice, spread the pickle on the other slice then sandwich the two together.

I can't eat jam and only eat 2 slices of bread every 10 days, Margot. I eat a very calorie restricted diet so do eat much cheese, either.

I do make a lot of sandwiches for the family, I'll try it on them
No Barry, no faffing about mixing powder with water. Just dip the knife in Colman's proper English mustard and spread it on the bread, just thick enough to make the eyes water a little :-)

That's not proper mustard, that's new fangled stuff
My dad used to get this cheddar that would burn the roof of the mouth but once you smothered it in Branston or daddies sauce it was delicious.
I'd use small chunk pickle on one side, sliced cheese on the other with a layer of mayo in the middle. Or sandwich spread and cheese.
I haven't had sandwich spread for years - on my shopping list for tomorrow
My mum loves the stuff, Margo!
Nice fresh bread, preferably crusty, loads of butter then a nice thick slice of mature cheddar.Throw the pickle in the dust bin and top the sandwhich off with onion and serve with a pint of cold cider.Gods gift to a hungry man.
I can't believe that people use butter (or spread) AND cheese...way too much fat, imo.

Pickle on bread, cheese on other slice, then combine!

When I were a lad a healthy lunch was a cheese sandwich with plenty of butter and a glass of milk, followed by rice pudding or similar. I don't think semi-skimmed or skimmed milk was available back then. Lots of carbs and a lot of fat.
I bought sandwich spread recently, for nostalgic reasons.

It was horrible, did we really enjoy that stuff in the 70's?
I love it with shredded iceberg lettuce Hopkirk.
One one slice i put butter and then a cheese slice ,then pickle, another cheese slice, and finally put the other slice of bread on top and cut it all in half. Lovely.
I don’t eat sandwiches but when I did cheese and pickle was never my thing. But did love a pastrami sandwich
