Just read some German Equestrian Training Lady has been filmed punching a horse in Japan.

I hope she dies in a fire.

Too harsh?

It’s not even a punch, but only my opinion.
Telling the rider to “really hit the horse” is good coaching?
I missed that .
Anne - the rider punched the horse repeatedly on its flank and used her crop aggressively. I think she is the one who should have been banned.
Any worse than a jockey whipping a horse during a race ?
Yes Bazile - in the video I saw it was clearly out of frustration/anger
But why is punching worse than whipping
If it’s done out of aggression
I don’t condone whipping either
Why did she punch it??
This op seems to have developed. Are we discussing the trainer or the riders handling of this horse ?
Yes, too harsh. She deserves a six month ban from working with horses.
I was intrigued to see film of the incident, which does put a different perspective on the incident.

The way the media appeared to portray the incident, it was made to read as though the horse was punched in the face, similarly to the Blazing Saddles clip, rather than hitting its flank.

I am nothing of a horse expert, so I have no idea if a blow like that would hurt or upset the horse, but it did appear as though the horse was already out of control.

The actions of the coach were clearly not helpful, and equally clearly motivated by frustration, rather than actively assisting in trying to get the horse under control.
