Afghanistan
So sir nick Carter and boris Johnson say There’s a “great sense of regret” for the 1000 (prob more in reality) Afghans who had helped our troops that will be left behind (to face certain torture and death).
“Great regret”!!!! Cmon man! These are lives, people! YOU’VE (nick Carter , boris) have failed to protect. I find that despicable

Contingency plans must surely have been prepared. But everybody was so surprised. How the British Embassy staff performed, leaving information on Afghan personnel, is beyond belief.
Except Trumps agreement, or most probably what his Generals did, was an orderly exit, area by area with all equipment & people moved and bases destroyed as they went with the air bases last. There was also the 'threat' to the Taliban that Trump would stop if they kicked off. After him taking out that fella in Iraq I'm sure they took him seriously and so would other countries meaning there was no real warning.
However its really good to see the armchair Generals on here could do a better job than Boris and his General. Perhaps they should offer their services if they are so up on Afghanistan and how the Taliban/ISIS work?

Sir Nick Carter also said 'The Taliban want nothing more than a society that is inclusive for all'.
That's how you have to talk to 'get on' in any service today.
I keep getting lambasted on here but I maintain 'if you're being attacked, you want to see Mike Tyson rounding the corner,,,not Charles Hawtrey'.

Trump's deal with the Taliban was signed back in Feb. 2020.
The deal’s conditional schedule for the withdrawal of the remaining American troops specified that in the first phase, nearly 5,000 are to leave Afghanistan in 135 days, The withdrawal of the rest, to be completed within 14 months of the signing, will depend on the Taliban keeping its end of the bargain, - but the election & Biden intervened.
Trump personally told the Leader (whose name I forget) that if there was any infringement &/or any US casualty during his orderly withdrawal schedule, he would bomb his village!

AuntPG, the Americans handed over a list of people they wanted to evacuate, which in practice amounted to a death list
