The village I mentioned in Shropshire is spelt "Tweedale" (only one D).

Tweeddale - the dale of the river Tweed has two, but that village does not!

Hello dannyk13. I have considered some possibilities and have decided to go for Tweedale as it fits the clue. As I said previously it is spelt with two d's but maybe the setter is unaware of this or the number of letters is wrong and should be 9 not 8.
