we have in my town on Saturday a mass release of balloons remembering two young lads murdered last week
these should be stopped due to many cattle easting them when they've landed and deflated they die from blocked intestines, i did thin they had be banned but obviously not like the many Chinese lanterns that used to set off fires they were banned
there more ways to remember them that this destructive method

some typos i know ... DOH !
I think it is high time balloon releases are banned. Not only the threat to animals and wildlife but the rubbish strewn across the country.
I saw someone say that banning balloon releases was 'choking the fun out of life' - I'd rather that than choking the life out of farm/wild animals.

Ban the things.
As a young child, I looked forward to going to the annual fetes organised by the firm he worked for. One of the biggest attractions for me was the balloon race, where children wrote their names and addresses on labels attached to helium balloons, with the finders of those balloons being requested to contact the company to say how far they'd gone. The balloon that travelled furthest would win a prize for the child whose name was on the label. (I never won but I was always thrilled at the idea that my name would be up in the sky and going who-knows-where).

One year we went though and I was disappointed to find that there was no balloon race that year. I was told that it had been cancelled as it had been realised that the balloons could be hazardous to wildlife. That was SIXTY YEARS AGO, so one might have hoped that people would have started to get the message by now!
Poor animals.
They should all be banned & Chinese lanterns, imo.
I work in a card and gift shop and we sell balloons. I believe that balloon releases are banned, but we strongly discourage balloon releases and we do often refuse to inflate balloons for such things. We do try and encourage a bench or planting a tree or plant where those can go and remember those who have since passed on. Its not just animals that can be affected if a balloon particularly a foil was to get caught in a power line it can conduct electricity and cause outages.
really you are telling the wrong people
