Wet Macular Degeneration

My elderly uncle has just been diagnosed with the above. He saw a consultant on Thursday and has an appointment for next Thursday for some treatment.

He is extremely worried by having been told that he will need injections in his eyes. Will it be as horrific as it sounds?

Personally, I have never had it done, but the eye is anaesthetised without an injection (topical) and the injection is inserted into the corner of the eye (one doesn't see the needle or feel it).

Who told him he would need injections?
I know several people that have them and am assured it sounds far worse than the reality. I admit the thought of it makes me shudder but the first time must be the worst time

No, I’ve had quite a few injections in my eyes although not for AMD and you don’t feel them, perhaps slight pressure but that all. No need to worry.

I don't think so though I don't like the idea either. My cousin's husband has had these injections for some years and says they aren't too bad at all.
