My Cleaner

I took advice and employed a cleaner through an agency something I thought I would never do. But I felt hubby was doing too much, although he denied it.
So unexpectedly now I have a great new friend, half my age, but we are so alike. We spend two hours chatting and laughing as we clean together. It's just what I needed. Thursdays are now the best days ever.

I kind of inherited my cleaning lady when I moved in with Husband. She used to drive me nuts by moving ornaments back to “where they’re supposed to be” - not just on a shelf but into a different room - and rearranging furniture to her preferred angle.

We’ve since moved house but she’s still with us. She knows not to move stuff around now, though. This is MY house.

I get on well with her now. We do chat.

And yes I know this is a First World problem. Just chatting here really.

I was very lucky as my daughter's friends had employed my cleaner for a few years so she came to me with high recommendations. All the good ones are employed down here, cleaners, gardeners, plumbers, electricians. If you're a self employed tradesperson and can't get enough work in your area, move to B&H.

Clover, the first thing that happened when my cleaner came was taking a picture off the wall to clean behind it! This was because another of her clients wanted it done. I did explain that we didn't care if there was dust behind our many treasured pictures. Also she hoovered the back of our lounge curtains We never pull the curtains. The curtain pole slipped and the curtains fell off. She was so upset. She knows us well now and realises we don't really need curtains hoovering. And we only do damp dusting. No polishing required either.

Is Hove still as posh as it used to be in my childhood LB. We went to Brighton a lot
My great uncle had a hotel there where our huge south London extended family spent Christmas most years, filling the hotel.

I reckon if you employ a cleaner, they clean what and how you'd like things to be cleaned :-)

Am shocked that Canary is approaching 80, maybe the birth cert says so, but I've always thought of him in early 60's x

Hove Actually is very nice Lottie, good schools, lovely parks, and the people are generally very nice. Hove Lawns along the sea front is good for a visit as is a walk up onto the South Downs. IMO it is much nicer than Brighton but the younger people love to go into Brighton for the clubs and theatres etc but then to come back to peaceful Hove afterwards. Obviously some bits are better than others but I love that when I go to bed at night the silence is deafening;-). And believe it or not someone around here has got a Rooster which kindly lets us know when it's awake in the morning, not too early I'm pleased to say.

Whether it's as nice or better or worse from when you knew it I don't know. But it's OK. xx

My MIL is pretty well off but she’s obsessed with cleaning and orders bleach by the crateful lol. She adores ironing too!

What on earth does she use all that bleach for?
Some people go really over the top with cleaningit's OCD. I'm very much not one of them!! ;0)

I can be a bit OCD when it comes to cleaning but bleach is a no no in my house. The smell makes me feel sick. I just use antibacterial products.

I use bleach for the loos daily, but very little. There is nothing else would use it for. We are not on mains drainage and bleach interferes with the septic tank process.

After reading Barmaid's post yesterday, I am now looking to employ a gardener who I can walk around the garden with a cup of tea and chat whilst we discuss all the plants. No lawn mowing or hedge cutting or diggng. Probably a female who will tidy up my precious country garden which has been neglected and knows the difference between weeds and flowers. I know what I want ;0)
