morning, Thursday already, the days are rolling by so quickly i can't keep up
I hope that you are all in good health and that your day is a pleasant one. Do you have any plans for today?

I have an extremely important phone call to take at 08.30 from the nurse at the hospital where i am having my knee operation. The call apparently could last as long as 1 1/2 hours so have to be off here early on. I still can't take it in that this operation will be going ahead.

Emmie make sure you have a notepad handy! I was taught how to manage stairs and crutches before I left hospital when I had my hip replaced and provided with all the aids I needed. The only thing I bought was a stool for the shower from Argos, they have a disability section. Your flat is on one level and your shopping is delivered so the stairs won't need to be navigated that often.

thanks Margo - have pen and paper at the ready. looks like i will be housebound for a time, even with the help of others. I am worried about afterwards i must admit.

Try not to worry it won't be as bad as you think. My advice would be take the pain killers as necessary and most important do the exercises they will help the recovery. Be positive:-)

perhaps you are right - but given that recovery times are long and will go over the winter, i hope that i get as much help as i can, from OT, friends etc. taking out the rubbish for instance, will be a problem unless i can get one of my neighbours to do it, will have to talk to him soon.

emmie, hate to be blunt but you were housebound a few weeks ago, if I remember correctly. Have the op and you may be housebound and inconvenienced for a weeks, don't have it and you almost certainly will become housebound and in pain for the rest of your life.

having had a run in with OT before, i hope they are more helpful this time. I know what you mean Barry, i haven't been totally housebound for some months, but am getting that way now, though i live with the pain and get on with things i can do.

Hope your phone call is helpful, Emmie. I would strongly advise you be awake during the operation, you won't feel anything and you certainly won't see anything! You'd probably be giggling all the way through it, with the drugs they give you
