Many of the State Pensioners who are struggling to pay their bills , keep warm, and feed themselves are to be given a Christmas Bonus from this Conservative Govt of millionaire MPS and a multi millionaire PM
of .....£10 What an insult , enjoy your bag of crisps ,because that's about all you can buy with £10 these days in the UK.
//And you are trying to justify This rag tag mob of a Tory Govt Paying state pensioners a measly £10 Xmas bonus. Shame on you.//
I'm trying to justify nothing. There is no justification for any government to authorise the payment of any "bonus" for those receiving State Pensions. It is a ridiculous notion, whether it is £10 or £1,000 or whether the government is Tory, Labour or the Monster Raving Looney Party (in fact the last one would be the most appropriate in this instance).
If you wonder about the origin of it, it was introduced by a Tory government in 1972. No government has seen fit to increase it since then and this includes the Labour government of 1976-79 and the so-called Labour governments of 1997-2010.
I somehow predict that if the govt decided NOT to give it any more you might start the post "Many of the State Pensioners who are struggling to pay their bills , keep warm, and feed themselves are not to be given a Christmas Bonus from this Conservative Govt of millionaire MPS and a multi millionaire PM"
I seem to remember a scheme a few years ago where lonely older people were invited to become proxy grandparents to children in families where there no natural grandparents. It was very successful . Provided warmth and hot meals for the elderly and grandmas and grand dads for the children.

Be careful with your insults, you will not like it when I bite you back .////
And do you turn green as well Gully ?
I am quite surprised there is any taxpayers money left in the pot to pay this Christmas bonus to state pensioners .Thought Boris had given it all to his millionaire Cronies.
its welcome whatever, plus the large sum of winter fuel allowance that i will be given, plus the 400 pounds split over 6 months that i will also be given, two payments of 66 quid have already been made, so no complaints from me,
