cold sores

Right in the corner of my mouth i had what i thought was a painful little spot, having put up with the constant pain whenever i move my mouth i had a closer look today and actually think it is a coldsore...its kind of raised with a hole in the middle which looks like it may be slightly leaking some gooey stuff does this sound like a coldsore to any of you as ive never had them before?
Also how would i have caught this?i havent been kissing anyone, dont know anyone who has 1 that i could of used the same drinking glass and basically havent had any oral contact with anyone?And how do you clear them up are there any home remedies i.e salt water?
Any advice would be appreciated

A cold sore, otherwise known as herpes, get zovirax from chemist.

Zovirax usually only works if you catch a coldsore before it's fully developed... other than that, all you can do is wait it out... should last a week to 10 days in total. They tend to come out if you're stressed or rundown... may just be a history of them in your family.

you could have caught the cold sore virus years ago. it stays dormant in the body until something triggers it - having a cold, being run down etc. i've only just got rid of the 2 i had - i hate them, they are horrible. they start off with a bump on your lip that feels warm and within a couple of hours, its a big scab on your lip!!! when u get one, use your own towel, glass etc cos u dont wanna pass it on and always wash ur hand after u touch it. also dont pick it, i always do and i have little tiny scars on my lips

Cheers for your comments guys! Arrrgh hope it goes soon, so im guessing even without treatment they just clear up themselves?though using creams speeds up the process? I have some zovirax so lets just hope... Dont like the idea of the fact that ones you get them u can always get them and the amount im stressed doesnt fill me with confidence i just feel really scabby :(
