I had an NHS email the other day saying I was receiving it as I had certain health conditions and advising me to keep testing kits in the house.
Today I received- unasked - a box of test equipment.
I'm wondering if this is being wheeled out nationally or if it is just selected areas.
I appreciated it anyway :-)

OH received a batch of 7 kits yesterday. Guess who had just ordered some on Amazon last week? Never mind, they are gratefully accepted.

It's always the way Choux !
Looks like the emergency is officially over in Auld Scotia. Free tests are no longer generally available to us.
Me too, I have RA, and am on medication that reduces my immunity. Need to test at first signs of possible infection so I can start the recommended meds as quickly as possible. It's hoped that all the clinically vulnerable will be included as it's the group most likely to need inpatient support without early interventions. If it prevents even 10% of admissions it will be a worthwhile exercise.

Perhaps the government bought too many and are finding ways to get rid of them.

I find it quite reassuring that my change in condition has been noted and I am now classed as more vulnerable. I just have to phone and the specialist nurses will have the meds delivered same day.
We were using them to test before visiting a care home.

Clearly, as I said, the emergency is over.
The emergency is over in that the media have moved on but Covid is still killing people, and will continue to do so for years to come. Hospitals are still struggling with numbers of cases, and it is still reducing their ability to admit for routine work.
I checked OH's e-mails yesterday and there was one from the NHS.
Today's post brought 2 appointments and then a phone call from the surgery gave 2 more. We now have 5 appointments in less than a fortnight! No complaint, just watching out for double bookings...
No wonder we got the test kits ;)
