No doubt about it .The Tories are terrified of the forthcoming GE , they are really panicking .
They never thought they would really lose over a thousand seats at the local elections .
The Blues are well and truly running scared.
You're not listening to reasoned arguments again, are you Gully. Your child like proclamations are boring.
Gulliver, I seem to recall you saying the same last time - and for some time before that - and you were wrong then too.
i remember david cameron had a love for the lib dems he said in almost every interview he is looking forward to working with them i would like it to be majority lib dem
Come on you Tories, you can come out of the closet now , you have spent a Bank holiday week end licking your wounds........Now in the cold light of day.
You Lost .1,060 Seats. Not looking good is it ?.
No it isnt gully, BUT results like that can have the opposite effect to what you think.

Firstly Labour didnt pick up as many as it should, the Libs and Greens picked up around half of them secondly turnout was poor so very difficult to get a signal from it.

I suspect many Tory voters stayed home, but will they in a GE now they have seen what can happen? Who knows.
What a blessing it was for the Tories, that the local elections were only held in England. Just think what a hammering they would have taken if it had have been the whole of the UK.
Gulliver, you have more faith in Labour than Starmer does. ;o)
YMB @ 12.58 "Labour did not pick up as many as it should." Neither did the Tories by the look of it.
The Tories expected to lose, labour has been out of power for 13 years and against a set of faux Tories performing very poorly should be stomping home. They are not.
Ymb,
You call them faux Tories because you are embarrassed by their record over 13 years.
The voting public make no distinction. On the voting paper it will say ‘Conservative’ and that will be enough to put a lot of people off.
“The problem with going into an election saying you will form a pact is that it appears like defeat before you even get going. “

I’m not sure that is really the point. Negotiations for any coalition agreement would only start so after all the votes were counted and the seats known. Coalitions in this country are highly unusual and controversial (rather ridiculously IMO) so it’s understandably not something one of the two main parties at least would want to talk about.
Ask the PM a similar question, or even Sir Ed, and you’d likely get the same reply
Epic own goal.

// Rishi Sunak has failed to rule out doing a post-election deal with any party - despite Tory criticism of Keir Starmer for the same thing.

The prime minister’s press secretary turned down five opportunities to deny the Tories would enter into a pact if they fail to get a majority at the next general election.

Asked if they would agree a confidence-and-supply arrangement, or a full coalition, with any party - including the DUP - she said: “I don’t think anyone at this stage is able to speculate on results of an election. //
Not an own goal Gromit: just proves my point.
You only rule coalitions out (and may have to recant as Labour appear to have done).
You never rule them in, even faintly.
YMB @ 13.41 "The Tories expected to lose" I hope they expect to lose the big one also. Because they will.
//You call them faux Tories because you are embarrassed by their record over 13 years.//

No I dont, stop telling lies.
// I hope they expect to lose the big one also. Because they will.//

Well for that we will have to see.

As I have stated before a while back now personally I'd like to see them getting a kicking so they boot out the Metropolitan elite 'wet' Tories.
