Good Morning Early Birdies

Good morning.
Such an enormous moon.
Looks like another hot sunny day here. I hope you are enjoying this hot weather. If it's not warm where you are I hope you are still having a good time.

I really ought to go to bed but I've been trying (largely unsuccessfully) to make some long-distance contacts on short wave radio throughout the night. I've just spoken to a guy in Calgary though (4372 miles away from me), so it's probably just about been worth staying up for.
The weather here isn't meant to be that special today anyway, with the northerly wind keeping the temperature down to a maximum of 17C, so it won't matter that much if I sleep through most of the day anyway.

Morning Birdies. It is another lovely day. Looks like we have at least 3 weeks of this and next week gets hot up here. I love it although I know lots of folk don't. Must try to get out for an hour now that the unpacking is sorted and the garden is back under control. Got to drive to Liverpool Royal first thing Tues for a review of my recovery and progress from the bevar, fevar, and iliac stent ops last year. Not looking forward to that although I feel good.
Morning all. Lady J I can't stand the sun either in fact I have been told by my doctor to avoid it so I'm with you on this.
Just looked at the weather forecast for the next 2 weeks for my area and it's sunshine every day and no rain at all. It's also been about a week since we last had any. I find it all quite worrying.
Sorry for being so cheerful.

morning.
had a nice BBQ yesterday, even though I had to wait over 2 hours for them to get the thing lit (the strong winds really didn't help)
had some sausages, some burgers, chicken, and an apple cider and I'm certainly not going to complain about that.
felt a bit fat today while getting dressed (ah getting older!), and had a nice bacon sandwich for breakfast
no plans for today though. been up all night, too, so there's that.

The weather is just about right for me, and I'll not complain about the current lack of rain...we had a month or more of it in April into May.
I love the sunshine and definitely thrive in it...it does
wonders for my emotional well being...and I've not had enough in recent years.
Enjoy it, everyone who likes it...otherwise enjoy a shady spot under a tree.

Getting very warm out there even though there is a breeze.
I was persuaded to line my hanging baskets with coir this year and the water seems to run right through. Any suggestions as to what I should have used?
Think I will gently empty them and reline with some plastic with holes in it and then replant. I will leave the coir outside to look decorative but honestly I think it is useless as a liner.

As a teen I used build hanging baskets from a Nursery (extra cash always needed) the public ones that you see around the city etc. and the small ones as in your Q. we used to just compress the moss lining of the basket no plastic lining just made sure the moss was watered to soak up the water after that the plants flowers etc would find their way... and blossom.
I am far from a botanist though. hope it helps a little bit.
