Sqad I'm on 3 BP tablets to control high BP. My cholesterol is 5.1 and I have been advised to now start taking statins. I'll be 70 this month. In your opinion do you think this is necessary?

Your situation and that of ellie seems to me quite different in that you have been prescribed Clopidogrel suggesting that you have a heart problem or other clotting problems, as the main reason for your medication.
Not so with ellie.
Stick to your regime.

I was started on 20 mg atorvastatin because apparently my RA meds can increase the risk of stroke slightly. No side effects, and 6 monthly blood tests( liver function). My blood pressure is borderline so just on 1.25 mg ramipril as well. ( wouldn't need that if I could exercise at the level I used to ).
