My mum just had cataract surgery and she needs eye drops numerous times a day (which I've been helping with since Friday). I'm a temp so I won't get paid anyway, but I want to look after her for one more day tomorrow. I don't want to let my boss know the ins and outs of my life, so how can I word I want to look after my mum for another day without the need to go into detail about staying off? It's really just a polite FYI email to let her know I won't be in? How can I briefly word it?

Dear sir I won't be able to attend the office on Monday due to caring responsibilities

You are allowed three compassionate days for taking care of one of your relatives.

20.49/Yes eyedrops are needed for at least a month. Treacle, did hospital staff not make  your mother or you aware of that?

^^ I've just realised you may have arranged for someone to do the drops for the month but they cannot start till Tuesday thus your need to have tomorrow off.  Apologies.

Can I ask why your mother cannot manage to do them herself please Treacle?

I am an old lady and after my cataract operation I managed to put my own eye drops in as probably do a lot of people living alone.

No, ladybirder, no.

Treacle, do you mean Ladybirder can't ask you - or that your mum can't do her own eyedrops?
