Horrible things cold sores. go to your chemist and get a tube of Zovarax or the same sort of thing, you can get it cheaper these days. Use it as directed on tube. If you have caught it in time it will go away but if already weeping will take longer. Brenda
As it says on your link. Zovirax is brilliant. I used to get cold sores regularly .. strong sunlight can activate the virus. But whenever I feel the tingle I used Zovirax and I haven't had a cold sore for donkey's years. But a good tip is .. buy one of the cheaper preparations. I buy one called Virasorb which I think I got from Superdrug. It has exactly the same ingredients, does the same job and is much, much cheaper. Good luck.
If as you said though its getting worse, if it starts to spread it may actually be impetigo which is small blisters like cold sores that spread when scratched. A small dose of antibitics from docs should clear this.
From personal experience,
vitamin C - in any form, tablets, juice, etc. as pure as you can get it.
Vitamin E pure oil and dab on sores with cotton wool bud (wet the bud before use or the oil will just get apsorbed)
excuse spellings!
Like sunflower said, Vitamin C works wonders for prevention. Get some Lysine it's brilliant.
I don't know where you are as there are different preparations in different countries, but most have the same base. Zovirax, Abreva, Zilactin... but in the end they all work the same, so even the cheapest ones would do. You can even try Tea Tree oil, tooth paste, or the old wives tale of ear wax.
Hi cheffron.. I get coldsores all the time and have been advised to take Vitamin C and Zinc which i have been doing for the last month. For quick fixes with healing and swelling i find perfume is the best! I know it sounds terrible and it is a little painful but it really helps. Just keep dabbing it on during the day and it dries it up really fast. Good luck!x
